rentals, plus a shuttle service. Located on the most
scenic portion of the Raccoon River valley and the
Raccoon River Bike Trail, people from all over central
Iowa rent from Raccoon River Retreats .
The Middle Raccoon River near Redfield offers a
perfect blend of challenge and leisure. Located on
the south terminus of the Wisconsin glacier, the
Middle Raccoon has an abundance of sand, gravel,
and boulders. The upper reach of the river is
bordered by majestic timber and prairie stream
settings. It is also the most challenging with numerous
riffles and pools, along with some mid-stream
boulders and snags.
Numerous sand bars along the river provide excellent
areas for rest and recreation. The average depth of
the river is 3-4 feet, so it is not only fun for the whole
family, but safe as well.

to drive to their parking lot, where the Raccoon River
Retreat staff will take you and all your gear upstream
so you can enjoy a relaxing day, and be back at your
car when you finish.
